Our Journey

At Hambledon Public School, teachers have been continually developing their knowledge and practice of Visible Learning, and as result they have created a collaborative professional learning culture. Over the course of two years, staff  have worked during staff, stage and in school professional learning meetings to jointly develop their knowledge of:

  • Assessment for, of and as learning
  • Modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies
  • Differentiated programming
  • Practical implementation of formative assessment such as learning goals, success criteria and feedback

We have made progress in each teacher's knowledge of these evidence based strategies, trialling and implementing them, particularly in the subject area of writing, an identified need and a targeted focus. Students are becoming more articulate in their ability to explain what and how they are  learning, and have made initial steps in becoming self –regulating learners.

Our future directions for the next three years will be to continuously improve teacher quality and assessment practices. The strategies implemented will be based on what has been proven to improve student learning outcomes.
